Bahria University has its genesis in Bahria Colleges and Bahria Institutes of Management and Computer Sciences which were built up by the Pakistan Navy in the 1980s and 1990s in Islamabad and Karachi. These foundations and schools were associated with Peshawar University to lead Bachelor and Master Degree programs in the controls of Business Management and Computer Sciences.
Bahria University offers Bachelor and higher degree programs. The development and arrangements of college are administered by its Board of Governors involving senior maritime officers and delegates of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Head of the Naval Staff is the Chairman Board of Governors and in addition Pro-Chancellor of the University

The college has grounds in numerous areas in Pakistan. The Headquarter of the college is in Islamabad comprising of 3 pieces (OC, NC and XC) including a sumptuous young ladies hostel.The other primary grounds are in Lahore and Karachi.
